Irving Reuben Bacon (1875-1962) studied at the Royal Academy in Munich, Germany with the support of Henry Ford. When he returned to this country, he became the in-house artist for Henry Ford and was later the Editor-in-Chief of his periodical Ford Times.
Many of the artist’s earliest work depict picturesque scenes in Germany and Switzerland. During his time in Michigan, he painted portraits of the Ford family and produced other work for Henry Ford. He also created some lovely bucolic farm scenes. His western paintings of cowboys and Indians are also quite masterful.
