The mountain in the background is Engineer Mountain. It is just north of Durango, Colorado near the Purgatory Ski Area.

Randy Follis has spent his entire life on or around ranches, first in the west Texas area, later in New Mexico, and more recently in Colorado. He took his first art lessons when he was in his twenties. The combination of raw talent, a thorough commitment to the study of art, and a lifetime of experience of living with and observing horses and other animals account for his mastery of the subject. The painting of horses has been his particular specialty. He has published a manual Drawing Horses the Easy Way.
