Yves Ganne (b. 1931) is a listed artist of de l’Ecole de Paris.  He studied with the prominent modernist artist Fernand Léger in Paris and at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts of Nantes.

It has been reported that Ganne first received critical notice at the exhibition of the Prix de la Jeune Peinture in 1950; he was also awarded the Prix de la Ville de Menton in 1950.

The artist’s first Paris exhibition took place in 1954 at the Galerie Drouant-David.  Later exhibitions of his work were held in Paris, London, and elsewhere.

The work of Yves Ganne can be found in the Musée d’Art Moderne in Paris and other public and private collections throughout France and the rest of the world.

Paintings by Ganne occasionally turn up at auction, but I could not find auction results for any painting that is comparable to this one in terms of exceptional size, quality, condition, and provenance.
