Art Hansen had his first one-man exhibition at the Seattle Art Museum when he was only twenty two years old. He was awarded a Fullbright Fellowship a year later which enabled him to study at the Academie de Bilenden Kunste in Munich, Germany.
Since the 60s, Art Hansen has produced a substantial number of etchings and lithographs, as well as paintings. Many of his prints are explorations of how natural landscapes are perceived at various times of day, during different seasons, and under varying weather conditions. Hansen has also produced many prints of trees, vegetation, flowers, and vegetables.
Living in the beautiful Pacific Northwest has no doubt inspired much of his work. He is reportedly partial to the Vashon Island in Washington.
