From Poemes de Mao Tse-Tung suite
Michler and Lopsinger #211
The eight prints from the Poemes de Mao Tse-Tung suite were Dali’s creative response to reading a book of poems by Mao Zedong. The demons of this particular print were a reference to the Japanese who had invaded China between 1937 and 1945, leaving the country only some twenty plus years before this work was created.
